Long Harbour Nickel/Cobalt Processing Plant Commissioning, Start-up, and Ramp-up
The core members of CSU Projects were intergral parts of the large commissioning and startup team at Long Harbour. The team led the commissioning and startup of the pressure oxidation autoclave, solvent extraction (Co/Cu/Impurity), electrowinning (Ni/Co/Cu),
counter-current wash, and the sulfide precipitation areas.

Contributing to the successful commissioning and startup, the team trained operators and developed operating strategies for Operations to continue production with the unique and complex refinery. During the startup period, the team was integral in solving difficult process/production issues on-the-fly to keep the production ramp-up schedule on track. During the ramp-up period, the team assisted Operations in the debottlenecking efforts to help plant achieve nameplate capacity.

Voysey's Bay Mine Expansion - Commissioning
CSU Project's core team were leading technical efforts in the commissioning of Vale's Voysey Bay mine's underground mining expansion project. The team's focus include the project development and the commissioning of the new paste backfill plant and the underground expansion.
Pumphouse Design and Review Support
Other than commissioning and startup, CSU Projects also offer engineering design and review support to other companies. The project with Ruhrpumpen to review their pumphouse structural design is a great example of our capabilities as a multi-disciplinary consultancy.
Process Development and Engineering
Ni/Cu/Co Refining Plant (Multiple Projects in Brazil/USA)
With hydrometallurgical process development engrained in the soul of the company, hydrometallurgical process development is a major strength of our team and is what sets us apart from other engineering and commissioning consultancies. We have developed a multitude of flowsheets for our clients looking to venture into hydrometallurgical processing. These include processing of a variety of feed stock such as mined sulfide concentrate and recycled black mass to produce metals such as Ni, Co, Cu, Li, and Precious Metals.
With integrated expertise and experience in each of the many stages in hydrometallurgical projects (from conceptual design/process development to operations), our team is able to develop realistic and efficient processes within a relatively shorter timeframe.
